J-Doc Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 An A-rig with Rooster Tails on a school of whites? I think I just fell out of the chair! I'd need a deep sea rod combo for that! The last school of whites I got into were 16-17" and 3-4lbs a peice easy. They fought like yellow-fin tuna and would almost pull my spinning rod out of my hand they fought so hard. If I through an a-rig with Rooster tails into a mad school of piranah style whites, I'd definately need a super duty rod because I'm betting I'd catch 3-5 fish on almost every cast. BOY What fun that would be! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Feathers and Fins Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 Ok 5 white rooster tails hanging off it just made me get an evil grin on my face that my wife saw and said " hunting seasons is closed you cant be thinking about messing with the geese again " I said no honey FISH she rolled her eyes and said " this is about to cost us isnt it lol" Lord i love but im so going to have to give the 5 rooster tails a try it just has WRONG written all over it. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Stump bumper Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I am thinking 5 flutter spoons something like these. They are too light to cast on their own but would look good on an A-rig. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/proeye-spoons/310320.aspx
Mr. Ed Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I have been wondering walleye would like an A-rig?
Stump bumper Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I have been wondering walleye would like an A-rig? Lots of good reports coming in from Bull Shoals on big walleye catches on the A-rig and Fins and feathers said he had some in Beaver. I will try to get to Beaver tailwaters this weak when the weather clears and try to get a first hand report.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 I have a feeling there will be several OAF people at the tailwaters this weekend. Weather looks like it wil be perfect for working from Holiday to the 62 https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
bferg Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I have a feeling there will be several OAF people at the tailwaters this weekend. bferg Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Which reminds me: any advice for a tailwater rookie? I have fished above Parker Bend...but never below. I am thinking of putting in at Bertrand or Housman and working down towards Holiday? Is that a good plan? I have a 16 ft Jon with a 40hp tiller- any problems running down that part of the tailwater right now?
Stump bumper Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Sounds like a plan, most people slow way down for small boats in that area and I even see people fishing out of kayaks. It is customary to slow to a craw when passing by someone fishing the river, it is only n the summer when you get water skiers looking to cool off that it can get dangerous. There are some really good holes on the area you looking at, good luck.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 Quick update. im sitting in PC parking lot doing my paperwork looking across the bouy line... Pssstttt there seems to eb some hungry stripers in the area and not a soul in the parking lot... I wonder if my wife would be mad if i go home and hook up the boat and come keep the stripers company... Wilson, Quil, Stump one of you guys needs to come say high to them. lol. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
