Fishrman Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Fished out of Shell Knob, started at 11:30 ended at 5. Caught no keeper bass, none on A rig, 10 between wart and mcstick. Also had 6 keeper crappie all of of wood in at least 20 feet of water, suspended about 8 feet.
Chris King Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Went out today about 2 and drove from Rock Lane to Eagle Rock breaking in a new boat/motor. Whew, what a ride...lake was beautiful and saw plenty of fishermen out. Fished across from Eagle Rock Marina for about 30 minutes before heading back, had an a-rig tied on with 5" Kinami shad grubs. I was on the bluff wall fishing down about 15' and got this nice smallmouth. This is my first fish on the a-rig (first time trying it). Heading out tomorrow to try it again.
Gone Fishing Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Nice reports. Thats along way up there to catch brown fish. You may have to run to the dam tomorow to catch some LM's.

Chris King Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Nope...white/silver Ranger...pic attached. Just ordered it from Angler's Port Marine up in Warsaw. Love the boat so far and can't say enough about Pete and the guys up at Angler's Port. Fished around Kimberling City yesterday from 12-3. Tried Fisher Creek, mouth, middle and back with the swimmin' fluke a-rig. Found 51 degree water but no fish. Moved over to the KC side of point 7 and changed over to grubs. Found this guy but really expected more. He was in 10' of water at 48-49 degrees, out probably 20 yards from the bank. VERY WINDY so we decided to pack it in with the rain clouds moving in.

At least I got the color right. Welcome to the white and silver Ranger club. My 521 is the easiest cleaning and scratch fixing boat I've had. Looks like you have some serious wires on that umbrella.
Chris King Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I just sold my Z521 that was the exact same color. Downsizing a little, but got a new boat out of it! I do love the color, always looks great. I was 'field testing' a rig my buddy came up with. It was definitely pretty thick wire. I was using the Mann's a-rig on Sunday which was much lighter and lighter wire. The Mann's was a little light in my opinion...somewhere in the middle would be great. I am using a small willow blade on the other arms.
dtrs5kprs Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Hear you on the downsize. Mine is the pre-Z, and I love it when the wind blows at TR, and is the best laid out fishing hull I have ever been in, but it is a lot of boat for my local trips around KC. Big Girl barely fits the stupid garage, hurried and bought it before the mold change because the Z boats won't fit, even the shorter ones.
