BackCastingGolfer Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Ever had those moments where you are sitting at your tying bench and just can not decide what to tie? Someone (a lot smarter and techy than me) needs to develop a Fly Tying Smartphone App, with a design like the ones made for mixing drinks. "I don't know what I want to tye..lets see I have (insert marterials here)", enter them into the app select see patterns and *BAM*, a list of flies to tie with those materials and instructions to tie them, or perhaps a link to a youtube video. Thoughts?
Addicted to Creeks Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 i like it, to bad i can barely program a alarm clock Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. He weighed ten pounds. —Charles Dudley Warner
fishinwrench Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Ever had those moments where you are sitting at your tying bench and just can not decide what to tie ? No, but I have those moments when I'm so sick of tying what I'm "supposed to be tying" that I waste 2 hours and 14.00 worth of material tying crap that I'll probably never use. What I wish I had is an app that would keep me from doing that....and could also brew a pot of coffee or make a sandwich.
Jack Jones Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 There are at least one fly tying iphone app that I'm aware of. It's called Fly Bench by Up and Atom Digital. I think it gives you one fly to start with and you have to buy instructions on the rest for about .99. They include video of how to tie it. I The second app I found is called Fly Tying by Alexander Magdics. It gives you four flies to start with. I attempted to download that one to my phone but you need IOS 5. My 3g doesn't support it. I downloaded the app to my kid's ipod but haven't pryed it away from her to look at it yet.
