timsfly Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I walked the river today or most of it anyway, lots and lots and lots of big fish, seen 5 over 10lbs, easy and 50-100 3-6 pound trout some of the holes had as many as 10 lunker (18" +) trout. Yes it will be crowded, as they are calling for weather in the 60's by noon, but if you have the guts and the want to, the blue wing olive hatches should be really good, and there should be decent midge and caddis hatches in the afternoon also, I wouldn't put a fly rod togeather till at least noon, most of the people will have their limit by then, or will have given up and gone home or gone to get lunch, most never return after they eat. I expect heavy crowds, thursday openings are usually pretty good and the weather should be perfect, so if your gutsy or have just never seen an event like this, if nothing else just come down and gawk at the other gawkers Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop

Members cself Posted February 29, 2012 Members Posted February 29, 2012 Can't wait to get down there! Did any of the weather last night create any flash flooding? I know my pond went up 2 feet (FINALLY) Tribal Outdoors Release a Lunker, you never know when a little kido will be the next one to catch it!
