Gatorjet Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I will be staying at Lilley's for a few days in mid April, and again in May. Although I really enjoy fishing for trout, convince me that I should spend some time trying to catch some of these Taneycomo "secrets" I've heard so much about. Would these be good times for Largemouth Bas, and if so a little what, and where would help persuade me. Don't know if I'll do that much running though. don't know what the fuel prices will be by then, and the Gator gets kinda thirsty for the petro-chemical lemonade. Not too bad if I keep light pressure on the hot foot, but it's a Gator. When does that happen! LOL Real men go propless!
grizwilson Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Gator, would trailer the boat and launch at Rockaway or Ozark Beach near the dam above Forsyth. My suggestion for that time of year would be Rockaway, run back up the lake, take first right and fish Bull Creek from the mouth up to where it narrows, there is a large flat before it narrows to a creek, you will be able to jet up the creek, but that time of year will be packed with sucker grabbers until May 15, “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Upper Bull Shoals is another 8 miles and it has been producing. Time will tell what the water level is and how it affects the fishing there. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
grizwilson Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Wayne is correct, in fact might be closer to trailer accross Table Rock Dam and put in at State Park, excellent SM fishing in that area, and much closer to Lilys. “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein

But my intent is to try to catch Taneycomo largemouth. Real men go propless!
grizwilson Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 But my intent is to try to catch Taneycomo largemouth. Rockaway or Ozark Beach are you best bets at the low end of the lake “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
Hunter91 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I would second the suggestion of Rockaway and Bull Creek. I have caught several nice largemouth in the past few years in that area.
Tfsh4bass Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 One of the biggest bass I have ever seen a picture of from this area was caught by a friend in Taneycomo...11lb 4oz and it looked every bit of it. Caught on a senko around a dock in April. My buddy said he had another one on that was just a little smaller from the same dock a few cast later. Of course I have never caught one over 5lbs there but I only fish it 2-3 times per year.
Members Ping Posted March 9, 2012 Members Posted March 9, 2012 What green fish??? SSHHH remember its a secret. You can start legitimately catching them at Scotty's and down. Any of the creek arms or main lake can produce that time of year. Same stuff as other lakes for 55 degree water
