dtrs5kprs Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I had a magic July last year. One at 10+ on a trolled crankbait and one almost 14 on a crawler harness. Of course, I paid for my sins with shoulder surgery in October. I am finally able to reach over my head again, but the rebuilt shoulder is very weak. I am planning to open my 2012 campaign in a few days during Spring break. I know better than to expect a repeat of last year, but I am optimistic. Just don't tell us the eyes tore up the arm. They pull like wet socks, a big one like several wet socks. Or at least that is what I remember from my bygone days up north. I did have one go bug nuts in a bush once when I was flipping a jig that was more entertaining, but they sort of seem ready to accept their fate...
rps Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Target bass. They're easy to catch, need thinning, and taste wonderful. Sorry, trytofish, but I've never fished the Kings. In two weeks some of the eyes will be far upriver and some will be filtering back downstream post-spawn. Suggest that you try rigging crawlers at 10-20 feet on inside bends and secondary points in the upper half (lake portion) of the river. PD, you are such a bad boy. trytofish is new to the board and you need to cut him some slack. trytofish, PD is a good guy, but he loves to stir things up.
powerdive Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 No, I truly believe there are too many bass in the lake. Go walleye fishing, trytofish, and I guarantee you'll catch bass. Good luck--hope you find a few eyes that get to your bait first. Let us know how you do!
