The white bass are running and some good ones are being caught on road runners, rooster tails and smaller crank baits. We are getting reports of good whites all the way up James river way past Ashers Cane bottoms and even further. Right now we have been sending fisherman down to Piney creek and having them go all the way to the back and get ready to catch some nice white bass.

The black bass are really biting on the Alambama rigs, jerk baits, and wiggle warts and some big bass are being taken in the 5 pound plus range. The water temperature Tuesday was 50 degrees and warmer, so the bass are acting as if they want to spawn and have moved into into some of the bigger coves. You guys have just got to accept that this mild winter has everything messed up and these fish are going to get going much earlier than normal.

The crappie are still going strong and by using minnows and crappie jigs up around point 15 you can catch some good eating fish. These crappie have been biting all winter. If it rains Thursday and the rivers flush a little bit the whites will go flying up the rivers and the fun will start, so lets all go fishing.

Thanks for taking the time to provide that great report. Looks like things are good in the back of the James.

I don't trust March weather, or early April all that much either. We shall see what unfolds.
