Members FullTiltAngler Posted March 15, 2012 Members Posted March 15, 2012 Going back to my spot at the 8mm on the lower Osage for the weekend. Was just curious if anyone fishing in the this area and how the crappie bite is after all this great weather we have been having this week. I would think things would really be getting moving now but any info highly appreciated. Good fishing to all and be careful out there.
motoman Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I was wondering how the warm weather would effect the crappie too fulltilt..........any luck?
buckcreekmike Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 My buddy caught a lot of nice sized (keeper) crappie in the Gravois Monday the 19th, all came from one dock though, but he said they were on fire.
slothman Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 They seem to be biting ok. About 8-15 feet down in about 20-25 feet of water is where I have been catching the crappie. While they are biting pretty good, they don't seem to have really turned it on yet.
Members just fishin Posted March 21, 2012 Members Posted March 21, 2012 Was on the lake both Saturday and Sunday and caught a lot of fish. Couldn't really tell you where to fish we were finding them all over the place. Caught several off of a dock we fished over the winter on Saturday and no fish there Sunday this was just a ways up the Little Niangua just around the first corner back to the right from the main channel. Got caught in a storm up by Linn Creek cove Saturday and pulled into a condo dock, the rain and hail was coming down we were sitting in 60 fow and fished a few slips and caught 7 legal fish about 6ft deep. Caught several in 10 to 15 fow above the brush about 6 ft deep.
rangerman Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I waylayed them late last week in the Niangua Arm. All 5 foot deep. Took me all of 1.5 hour to limit out. All in between 10 and 12 inches. They were packed tight with shad. water temp was 55 degrees. Also caught a couple of 17.5 hybrids and a pure strain striper throwing a flicker shad at a school of shad that were being pushed around. They wanted anything you threw at them as long as it was the right depth.
