duckydoty Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Went out chasing some rock chickens with a buddy today and found a few. Put in around 9 a.m. across from Cape Fair Marina and started looking for brush piles and lay downs in 6 to 15 feet of water. We mostly threw jigs but I did bring the long rod along. First pile produced 6 or 7 nice ones and a few shorts. We only fished each spot for about 10 minutes before moving on to the next. Just before the down pour we noticed some fish hitting the surface and I picked up the fly rod and threw one of my minnow patterns in the area. Ended up landing a 3 1/2 pound bass and another about 2 pounds. Stopped fishing around 4 with 26 keepers in the live wells. Most fish were caught in 8-15 feet of water right up against pole timber or in the brush piles. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
