Got down here yesterday, caught a good bass on the a-rig. Fished all morning and only had one on with the a-rig. Comments on where or what I should focus on the rest of the week?

As for crappie... New to me on TR. from st.louis and usually fish Mark Twain Lake for crappie. We jig standing timber and do well. Tried that earlier this afternoon and had nothing. Any suggestions??

Thanks

Try the creek arms like Aunts Creek or Long Creek. Look for the standing timber and brush piles in 15 to 30 feet of water. The bite was slow for me yesterday, but we did pick a few up in the coves straight across from the Aunts Creek boat launch.

I can't comment on the crappie end of things; but if fishing for bass; don't put all your eggs in the a-rig basket. Checkout a few of the other recent posts and there's lots of good info on the other tried and true bass fishing methods.

If you dont give up on the bass; get out before sunup, fish until mid-morning, head in, have a big lunch, take a good nap; get back out about 4'ish and fish well into the night. That's when I've always done my best and the tranquility on the lake those early and late hours is magical!:-)

Thanks for the tips. Turned out to be an ok day. Caught some this evening. Decided to try a brush-hog and did alright. Not the best day on TR but have never fished this early in the year here. Totally different than drop-shotting in August lol.

Fished from Friday the 23 to today Tuesday the 27th. Overall i was not to impressed with the fishing on TR. A lot of the reports I read said the lake was pretty good for fishing. We were able to catch some but was not the extended weekend I was hoping for.

Cooler weather the first couple days and warmer the last days. Started to see a lot of fish shallow in the back of pockets yesterday afternoon and mid morning this morning. Lots of wrapped boats out around Indian Point area.

Caught them on baby brush hogs and super hogs, if anyone is interested. Could not get bite on a spook, but seen a lot chasing. Seen a lot of A-Rigs flying through the air as we moved to other locations. (kinda hard to miss that big of a bait in the air lol).
