I'm toying with the dea of driving down early Tuesday morning for a little fishing, but I've never been there before and I have all sorts of questions. Mainly, are the fish biting, and where can I park and where should I fish? I'm not looking for anyone's secret spot but any pointers would be great. Also, what kind of lures should I use? Thanks guys.

Lots of parking and it is obvious when you see it. You can fish anywhere, some like it on the Powersite side rather thann the Forsythe side. Dont know if they are biting but you can usually catch something down there. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

If you take a right at the 4 way stop in Forsyth it will take you to the Pothole. You'll pass a park on the lake, but that's trout water, and after you pass the dam look for a gate opening in the fence. That's the area where you can park and fish the Pothole. If you travel on down that road you will eventually cross Swan creek and be in Shadow Rock park. If you want to skip the Pothole just go straught ahead at the 4 way.

This will give you lots of bank space and areas to fish, it will also probably produce the best fishing. The powersite side is most likely under water and not available for bank fishing.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Thanks guys, I'll have to give it a shot. Turns out my trip is being pushed back to Wednesday, so hopefully I can hook into something over 6 inches...

Ask 5 fishermen, you will get 5 answers to this. However, I think it would be tough to argue anything White. White Slider, White grubs, White roostertails, white swimming minnows, white (sexyshad) crankbait...anything 1/8-1/4 oz in size. I have caught a stringer of whites, many walley, and a LOT of black/SM bass on these lures.

Just to make sure I don't manage to get myself lost in Forsyth, is the area you're talking about on the north side of the tailwater, just off of Hwy Y and just past the dam? And if not, that spot looks pretty easy to get to, how's the fishing?

Yes, it is hiway Y. I can't speak to the fishing, but the whites should be up there.

They were catching a few at Beaver creek today. It's another 7(?) miles on 160. Fish under the bridge.

not flooded yet, it is up roughly 5-6ft from before the rain, the water is up to the fence, and the generator half of the dam is down so its not so rough to fish on the Y hwy side. river run side is flooded out though into the trees

Well I made the trip, but I don't have a lot to brag about. I made my first stop right above the dam at the public access and caught a fat little largemouth on a silver stickbait, then I went down below the dam and threw everything I had and never got a bite. The guy just down from me was catching smallies and a few walleye on a gold swimming minnow fished near the surface at a medium retrieve. That's about all I saw being caught in the few hours I was down there.

Its a tough bite if your fishing from shore. Lots of good size smallies coming out, not very many whites. Since the water has gone up, we have been having trouble locating where the fish are at.
