Well it looks like they will be dumping water at LIR for a while, so I was thinking about taking a 2-3 day trip up to the Roaring river, and beaver tailwater area. I have never fished there before and really don't know much about them. I'm looking for any advice and information (flies, good areas, what to look for, what to aviod, and that type of stuff), you guys have on these areas. Thanks

RR, Expect crowds, But alot of nice trout.

BVTW Lots of trout but dont get locked into the area at the base of the dam, explore Parker Bottoms area.

Sculpin patterns always my go to on BVTW im looking for Big trout and Walleye. If you have a boat or canoe Dont pass up the area from 62 bridge south to Holiday Island for more warm water species as well.

Fishing is good at RR right now, water has dropped and is still clearing, dry fly fishing

Is getting better everyday, blue wing olives, caddis, adams, griffiths gnats, and beetles are

good for drys right now. Nymphs are good, pheasant tails, copper johns, sow bugs, zebra midges,

gold ribbed hares ears are good.

Buggers in black, brown, and olive are good right now, San Juans in orange, flo. Yellow, white,

red & chartreuse have all been good

Awsome, keep it coming. In regards to RR, is the catch and release area-i believe its zone 2- the best place to fly fish.

RR is always wall to wall people. Many times I have found solitude on the BVTW even on busier weekends. The scenery for me is better at the BVTW. There is a shop/gas station, the Beaver Dam Store, on the way to the park. Scuplin patterns, y2k's and zebra midge patterns in green and silver usually fish well.

I've fished both. I'd take 1 fish per day on Beaver over catching fish shoulder to shoulder at RR. It's a great resource from some, but if you're like me you go for the whole experience, not just numbers.

Definitely explore the Parker Bottoms area. Parker and the Crane Roost area are my personal favorites.

All the usuals will work. Have fun!
