vonreed Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I took the 3 kids down to the old bridge over Swan this afternoon. We caught countless bluegills on worms and caught 1 yellow perch to. We caught 19 yellow perch this past weekend also off the bridge, first ones I ever caught. Boy they're good eating to. Like mini walleye. About dark I went under the bridge and fished for whites till about 8:15 and caught 1 sow whitebass. She had already spawned out, so I'm not sure if they all have or not.
mmirg Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Thanks for the report. Were the bluegills cleaning sized? That yellow perch is awesome, my dad calls it fish candy.
vonreed Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 yeah the last 2 weekends we've been pulling out hand sized bluegill and lots of others about 7" maybe, well big enough to fillet. The water has dropped quite a bit and the bigguns have seemed to move somewhere else. Now it's mostly borderline bluegill, but they gotta be somewhere.
vonreed Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 You really shouldn't get there until about 2 am. So what is there at 2 a.m. ?
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I'm wondering that also, 2 AM huh? The whites were up at the pothole for awhile yesterday, but gone this morning. I don't think they were there to spawn, but to eat the sahd that are spawning. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
emjay Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 So what is there at 2 a.m. ? Usually it will be either very hot fishing or a very long night lol. But stay overnight at your own temptations to see for yourself.
