Don Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Alot of tornado warnings tonight. I'm in Christian County MO just southwest of Springfield and I've been viewing a heck of a light show south of here. I was hit by a tornado in March and I take this stuff much more seriously these days. Please pay attention to warnings. I hope nobody got caught out fishing in the middle of the stuff and I hope everyone is safe and did not suffer too terrible damage. In my prayers.....Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.

Danoinark Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Got the spectacular light show down this way. We didn't get much wind or rain. The tornadoes were mainly east of Harrison. All is well and hope everyone makes it fine through the night....Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
RiverRunner Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I was in the middle of it all last night in Calico Rock, AR (Izard County). I don't think that I have ever seen so much lightning. The White River was nasty muddy this morning from the runoff. On the way back to Jonesboro, I had to drive through Sharp County, AR near Hardy and Ash Flat. It is a real disaster there with the worst flood ever on the Spring River. They had nearly 15 inches of rain between 3 pm yesterday and midnight. The river apparently rose so fast that people who were camping near the river were swept away by the floodwaters. A number of RV's were swept away in the flood. Their were numerous people launching boats to look for missing people downstream of Hardy. I know that I have never seen the Spring River that high in my short lifetime. I was on the White at Cotter all day and had no idea that this was going on. We really need to keep the people in that area in our thoughts.
Danoinark Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 A buddy sent me some pictures of the wind damage around Cherokee Village..nasty to say the least. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Thom Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Try setting your camera on a fast setting 1/1000 or greater and go to the multiple shot mode. It will take lots of trys but in a heavy storm if you can anticipate a lightning strike like when a small bolt starts you then hold down the button and it will take several shots one right after another. It takes a little practice but it will work. Another way you might try is to go to the MOV mode on your camera that records a movie. let it run through a light display and then go to your computer and freeze the shots with adobe or another utility and print the shot. The resolution in the MOV setting is VGA or up to 1 megapictles but will be enough to get a decent 3x5 or even a 5x7 picture. Thom Harvengt
