Members brianetz1 Posted April 6, 2012 Members Posted April 6, 2012 I have been out the past few days on lakes 37 and 28 and both were producing. 37 = a ton of short bass on topwater from 6-9 on Tuesday. Nothing big at all, but had fun all day long. Biggest was 1lb at the very most. 28 = the opposite, 8 quality fish smallest just under 15in biggest around 16.5 and around 3lb. Hitting fast moving baits 8 feet of the banks. Seem to be holding to the massive amount of underwater cover. Used 3-5ft silver/black diver for 3 of them, 2 on white chartreuse spinner and 3 on white chatter bait. All moving pretty fast and all strikes were hard.
brother dave Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Nice report I shop at the outdoor grocery store
Members bsteele02 Posted April 29, 2012 Members Posted April 29, 2012 Thanks for the report. I am going tomorrow morning. Mostly going after cat. But might try a bit of bass fishing while keeping an eye out on my tightlines.
Members bsteele02 Posted May 1, 2012 Members Posted May 1, 2012 Well I went out yesterday during that on again and off again rain. We got pretty much skunked. Cats were not biting anything. I tried chicken liver, some stinkbait, and worms. Caught a couple bluegill that were not even 3 inches. I did try about an hour worth of bass fishing. Not a single hit. Oh well, was still a fun day. There is always next weekend.
Greasy B Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 The Bluegill have been a little spotty this last week. I think it should pick up as we approach the next full moon. I haven't been pestered by the usual herds of 10" bass this year, maybe with less small bass we'll see some better size next year, probably wishful thinking. I am not sure if I am going to use chicken liver again because all those tiny herds of bluegill kept pecking it off my treble hook. I hope some of those bass have grown. I would like to catch a bass worth taking a picture of at Busch besides those little thin skinny guys you can catch one after another.
Greasy B Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 The bass regulations are promoting quantity rather that quality. A slot limit would go along way to balance the size structure. stlfisher Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Busch get's a ton of pressure and big bass are a bit hard to catch on those lakes. Lake 33 is your best bet for big bass. The MDC has a decent write up on Busch that could steer you in the right direction.
Geoff Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Anyone seen any decent sized carp crusing around up there yet? "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."

No, and that's a little unusual, normally I'll spook a few in the shallows. The cold front sure put the breaks on the bluegill. Sunday the fish had very dark spawning colors and they were super aggressive, last night was pretty slow, the males I did catch were pale colored kind of like they looked a month ago.
