I want to put a trolling motor on the front of my 24 ft tritoon. I cant buy a bass boat right now, but want to get out on LOZ to do some bass fishing. I want something that is easily removeable so I can take it off the boat when we arent fishing. Given the weight/size of the boat I assume I will need a 70+ lb 24V motor. Is there a way to mount a transom mount motor on the front of the pontoon? Any suggestions on a type/mount of motor that would be easily removed? Any help would be appreciated.

A transom mount can work. You can easily turn the control head 180 from the way it is mounted from the factory. The other problem is the factory mount is made to attach to a vertical transom. The only thing you have to attach to on the front of your pontoon is the horizontal deck. There are commercially made brackets that you can bolt to the front of the deck but it would not be practice to remove when you want to go party mode.

Unless you wanna fish from a kneeling position a reversed transom mount isn't gonna cut it.....shaft lengths aren't available that are long enough. A more permanent foot control setup is what you'll need.

If your fishing time will typically be short (a few hours a day) a 54# 12v TM will keep a 24' toon positioned pretty well. I have a clamp on unit that I use just to move toons with motor problems onto trailers for service and it does a fine job of pushing them around.

I have found a 52in 80lb transom mount that I think would be long enough. Wouldn't that work?

Can you give me a link to something that is similar to the clamp on motor you have? That sounds exactly like what I am looking for.

Actually, I was wrong a 42 inch shaft is what I saw. We probably would only be fishing a few hours at a time. My uncle has a bass boat we can use for longer fishing trips.

So sounds like a 42 reversed transom mount should work. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I once had a welding shop make me a bracket to bolt to the front of my boat so I could attach a transom mount up front. To the meatle bracket I bolted s 2x4 and counter sunk the nuts and bolts on both sides to attach it. I painted the steel bracket to prevent rust. Tough to make one from aluminum that would withstand the tork. Made dads old high bow runabout at least manuverable enough to fish from.
