Members SpringFishin Posted April 12, 2012 Members Posted April 12, 2012 All the reports I am getting is that the white bass run is over at James River. If it is that was an unbelievably short run. We caught fish consistently for about 5 days and that was it. Haven't been in about a week but have not heard anything good. Does anybody have any reports on the James River Arm and white bass?
Members ThomHardy Posted April 12, 2012 Members Posted April 12, 2012 Was at Galena Monday evening and caught nothing. If there is some rain, will this so called run start up again, or is that it?
Members SpringFishin Posted April 12, 2012 Author Members Posted April 12, 2012 From what I am seeing and hearing I am thinking a little rain is our only hope.
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 That would seem to be the story at Swan and Beaver also. I assume they need a certain temperature for the eggs to hatch and I'm wondering if that window was very narrow this year? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Dutch Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Table Rock whites usually spawn a bit behind Bull Shoals whites. I caught females on Bull Shoals a couple of days ago that had not spawned yet.
chi0082 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Hi all, I'm new here, but have been reading quite a bit the past couple months. I was thinking about fishing at blunks this weekend and was wondering if the whites are still there? Anyone know or heard if anyone has been catching them? It'll be a 3 hour drive for me and was wondering if it'll be worth the trip to bring some kids along for the white bass run. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
Fishslayer88 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 i haven't been doing any good on whites lately in the past 10 days i have picked up 4-5 usually 1 a trip right at dark. i have been catching a few crappie and small mouth though.
chi0082 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Thanks Fishslayer. Do you think the spawn is over or yet to come? Or is the water too low right now?
Fishslayer88 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 idk man the fishing has been strange this year, even if the spawn is over i usually catch them in late may-june on their way back to the lake, i will probably just start going after catfish now.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 13, 2012 Root Admin Posted April 13, 2012 Nephew was over there last evening and only saw small males. I don't think it's over, just stalled. You may find them out in the lake staging- may be surfacing. They were around point 14. But they don't seem to be at Blunk for sure.
