catman70 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I've never heard of any one mentioning a walleye run below the dam on the Osage, but I imagine they're in there. Anyone ever tried?
Members Simsmarine Posted December 22, 2005 Members Posted December 22, 2005 For reasons I don't fully understand Catman, They just aren't there in numbers worth the effort. My theory is that because the bottom is covered in nothing but sand/silt below Bagnell, making it good habitat for mid-column fish like white bass/crappie, and chum grubbers like catfish. The walleye and black bass don't feel "at home" there.
Seth Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 A few years ago while fishing below bagnell we found about a 10-12lbs walleye floating dead on top of the water. It might have came through the turbines though and that is how it died. Sure was a dandy though.
