Members Ping Posted April 15, 2012 Members Posted April 15, 2012 Went out today in the Dam area and had a pretty good day. Most fish were caught in 6 FOW or less and our best string probably went about 18lbs. We caught them on several different setups. Crank, topwater and the little green worm, just depended on what the scenario called for. We caught around 12 from 7:30 to 10:30. Mostly LM, but we did have one real nice K and one small SM.
Members Winston Posted April 15, 2012 Members Posted April 15, 2012 Bill, all were caught in the dam area but they weren't crappie. A mix of LM, K's, and Smallies.
Tfsh4bass Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Another great trip yesterday fishing different water around Indian throwing FB jig, topwater and swimbait...a few more fish suspended with the sun so I got on them pretty good with swimbait but still caught plenty of the FB jig. Nothing over 4lbs but several good solid 3+ keepers during the day and then I night fished a little and ripped them on single spin. Just glad to get back on the water again.
Bill Babler Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 Bill, all were caught in the dam area but they weren't crappie. A mix of LM, K's, and Smallies. Thought they must have been crappie. Not to big here on killing spawning bass. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members Lunker Lane Posted April 15, 2012 Members Posted April 15, 2012 Most on here not fond of killing spawning spots, smallies and LM's.
riverfish Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 not to mention "about a dozen" thats more than ones limit
Bill Babler Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Ya, really the point of my post earlier when I asked where he might have caught the crappie, I had a upset stomach feeling they might have been spawning bass. When I saw the 12 number, I hoped it was crappie. I'm sure he must have had a companion, "I'm guessing he did." as everyone knows that is twice the legal limit. He or anyone with a proper fishing licenses can kill the legal ammount of bass anytime they want, even in the spawn and off the nest. "Just don't need to hear about it here." wdberkley Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Spent 5 long days chasin' em on the Rock last week. Managed to put together a few patterns and figure a little out. Caught some decent Brown ones from Kimberling City to Baxter, mainly hoppin/draggin a tube on pea gravel with the boat in 15 - 25 fow. Caught a few largemouth between 4 and 6 pounds fishing bluff walls and transitions from Kimberling to up the James near Piney. Even found a few that wanted a Wart or a Square Bill on gradual sloping banks with chunk rock. One or two in creek arms, but most came on main lake points, secondary points and pockets. All in all this year was the best quality fishing we've had in the last 3 years we've been making the run. Only downfall was the lack of crappie and whites - didn't get a fish fry in. *Although some pictures were taken at our dock, all fish were released to fight another day*
