Newbie .... Sorry To Bother U Guys

Im tryin to get my kids to want to go fishing more. Whats a good rig or 2 for them to just catch some stockers on a regular basis ? I mostly fish crank bait n they get board casting and reeling lol ,,,, any help is greatly appreciated !!!!! Thanks guys

You might want to start them off in ponds where fishing tends to be easier. My kids are still young but like to go catching rather than fishing. Just dont pressure them and turn them off of it all together. Make it a fun event and try to pump them up about it a few days prior. When ever I get to take mine I get them out in the back yard to practice casting and reeling, it just makes them more excited when we get to the water. Throw small spinnerbaits or teach them to bounce plasticworms off the bottom or even a jig under a bobber for panfish. Once they start catching fish on a regular basis they will start to enjoy the challenge of streams and lakes by looking for places that might hold fish.

What Soggy said and remember to keep the outings short kids have lower attention spans than we do. Break up the fishing with some nature walks, stone turning and so on. Make it a fun day and experiance.

To answer your question, a simple rig is a split shot and either power bait or corn on a small hook

Use just enough weight to get to the bottom. Too much weight will hang up and be frustrating to the kids. They'll be able to feel the bite better too. Gulp Eggs- the best.
