Feathers and Fins Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Water Temp 68.9 Ait Temp low 70's Wind light out of the south at 3 to 7mph Water clarity 5 to 7 ft Water depth 30 ft to 2ft Lure White swimtail 4'' grub Line segar 10lb flourocarbon I started the day back on the islands looking for Walleye, they appear to have moved on as i marked nothing, tried casting the area for about half an hour with no bites. Firing up the big motor I shot down the lake to a cove that had been holding Whites and Small Walleye ( Phil and Duane know the cove hint to you two) Nothing in the back of the cove so I tried a Long point on the West side of the cove that shoots out to the main lake. Bingo We have fish. 43 to be exact a nice mix of Hybrids, Whites, Bass and Stripers. Started catching the fish at about 6pm and by 7pm it was a wide open surface bite. The wind had dies down and you can see boils all around. The main bite was 2 to 4ft as the fish pinned the bait up on shore. Ok had the cell and we all know by now it sucks at pictures but I think you get the idea. Im betting Saturday with overcast conditions in the forecast is going to be insane. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
J-Doc Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I so need to go out with you one afternoon and learn more about fishing for strypers/hybrids!! Hahahaha! Best I have ever done was 50+ with a buddy in a very large school. Your trip seems much better considering you were probably by yourself. Do you guide? Hahaha! Need marine repair? Quillback Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Very nice! That bass you have looks like a Meanmouth, and a fat one at that!
Martin Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I agree Quillback.....Looks to be a Meanmouth for sure.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 It is. The rod its next to is a St Croix PS70MHF bout an 18'' fish https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
J-Doc Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I agree, that is a large meanmouth. Further proof that Beaver's fish quality is thriving and growing. B.A.S.S. won't come to Beaver Lake because it has a reputation for being a bad lake or hard to fish. All the more reason to have folks like KVD explore it and find some big ones. We all know Beaver has good fish. I just wish it got some deserved notoriety. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!!
