I have read many post on here that specifically talk about what type of top water lures to use for stripers, but my question to you guys is what is the best top water lure for black and spotted bass?

I guess I will pose the same question on crank baits, what is the most productive size and color

Zara Spook, silver shore minnow color, modifed old Pop R with a white belly(any color on top of it), little head knocker buzzer in black, and I would guess number 4 would be a tiny torpedo, though I will admit it has been years since I have thrown it. I think I will dig some out now and try them this year. Crankbaits? Blue back/chart sides, or Sexy shad, and if I have to resort to crankbaits, it is not a good day.

I'd also include the LC Gunfish to the list. Kind of a Popper and Spook all in one.

Look at my avatar. That is a Tim Hughes painted Norman Top Dollar with Daiichi Death Trap Trebles and my own hand tied feathers with tinsel. I can fish it as a popper, I can walk it, and I can make it go sub surface and walk. It is a PITA to throw because it flies like a potato chip, but it catches fish. I have had sixty fish days on the bait. Last year I caught 5 fish over 6 pounds on the bait that included one over 8.
