Planning on doing a guys float/fishing trip on Big Piney about early June. Never been there before but seems like a nice river with some good fishing. We're mainly interested in smallmouth/largemouth and will be strictly catch and release fishing. Basically just looking for some good fishing with the shot at a nice smallmouth as I'm sure there will be daily pots on big fish. What stretches of river would be best? We could also fish the Gasconade if it would be a better option by that time of year.

Also we're looking for a place to stay that either rents or shuttles jon boats since a couple of us are bringing our own and all of us would rather fish out of them. I've found Dixon resort, any others? Thanks guys for any help you can provide me.

Rich's Last Resort west of Licking. I'm sorry I don't have the contact info in front of me but a search should turn it up.

I'd rather live my entire life, living as if there is a God and Jesus and to find out at the end that there isn't, than to live my entire life as if there is no God and Jesus and to find out at the end that there is.

Here's a list of outfitters, most offer jon boats in addition to canoes..Better to camp on the river than a CG...cuz most of them arent that nice. Boiling Spring on the Gasconade was OK..Its about 2 miles below the confluence of the BP and Gasconade so you could float & fish both...Lay Z Day looked OK when I paddled past it on the Lower Big Piney on Wednesday but I've never stayed there. Wilderness Ridge or Rich's would be your best options on the Middle Piney (south of Fort Leonard Wood). Upper G. Nade...your best option is Gasconade Hills. Have a great trip!
