Terry Beeson Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 This is something learned in time and Terry Beeson is a good example. If you've been around the forums in this area then you know Terry is strictly a C&R fisherman, so one shouldn't be concerne about sharing with him Just be careful when you post your honey hole for Crappie or Bream... I practice catch and release on them, just that I tend to release them into a vat of hot Crisco... You guys both have a point. We all should be careful sharing information or our favorite spot to get away and have a theraputic fishing session will wind up looking like Bennett Springs on a Saturday... But I agree that someone who sits back, lurks, and never posts is like a person who won't vote but is always griping about the way elected officials are doing their job. Rusty Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Terry, I will bring the fish, and tell you where I caught them.
Fish Bork Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Here's the pics of the fish. I guess there were spots on the female. Just didn't remember them. Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
drew03cmc Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Wow, very nice fish indeed! I would save that honey hole for myself if I was you! Andy
mhall02 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I fished this stream a fair amount in the late 80's, early 90s and caught and released some nice fish (4-5 lb male in Dec. of '91 in beautiful spawing colors was the biggest). Funny story, my Dad and I were fishing it one day, he caught a 3-4 inch chub and was reeling it in an a 2-3 lb rainbow was in hot pursuit. Spooked when it saw us but that was a first!! I grew up about 6 miles west of the creek (between Monett and Freistatt) and this creek had a history of dioxion contamination. I wouldn't worry to much about the locals catching and eating those fish, but things may have changed, who knows. A fine little creek none the less, plus I haven't seen Crane Creek fished out (lower section) so I doubt that even if the word gets out, there still should be fish. Plus, it is private land, you gotta get permission to fish, not just walk on in like some streams.
ollie Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Wow Impressive at least. Hope the two on the right survived the man handling under the gills. I agree with others, don't give specifcs on locations. It's not clickish, but just good common sense not to give out details to the whole world who can read those posts. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Fish Bork Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 If you go where we were without permission you will be trespassing. All the fish swam away after we put them back in the water. Its my decision to tell people where I am and where I caught fish thats why this forum is here. I saw a guy in my hole the last time I was at the James and I hoped he would catch as many fish as I had. Plus I didn't catch these trout with a rod a reel. I used ELECTRICITY!!!!!!!! Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Terry Beeson Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Dang... where did I put that crank telephone... Members Drew711 Posted October 7, 2006 Members Posted October 7, 2006 Fish Bork, I think you shocked up some beautiful trout. Thank you for the news and the wonderful pics
Members Arkamo Traveler Posted October 9, 2006 Members Posted October 9, 2006 I felt like I should add a rebutle the topic of sharing info. I'm think it's great; thats why I am a member of this forum. I am all for sharing flies, methods, and even places to a point. But, when somebody blabs my honey hole to the status quo, I get defensive. I greatly value places off the beaten path where I can go to get the solitude I seek as part of my fishing experience. Fish Bork share away, its a free forum, and a free country with free speech. But remember sometimes less is more. Also, nice pics, but dude the gill hold is not a recommended catch and release practice I'm pretty sure. Russ, you may want to disregard this because I guess am a "lurker" and don't have too many posts therefore am not in the "click" of those with a valuable opinion.
