Microwave!

People think I'm crazy.

Take a plate, melt butter on it (olive oil if you're trying to be really healthy). Sprinkle your favorite spices on the plate with melted butter. I use lemon pepper, season or garlic salt. Put the fillet on the butter and spices, rub it around and turn it over. Fill the plate with fillets. Season again.

Cook full power for not more than 4 minutes. You can over cook it. I'd do 3 to 3.15 and see if it's done.

I'm serious- this is drop dead good. I do it with trout, white bass and crappie. Sub out spices... add squeezed lemon. It's quick and healthy- even with the butter. I would not use margarine or a substitute butter- I'm not a fan. Too much water and you're fish will be rubbery.

One other thing- cut the line of small bones out of the fillet. They run down the middle of the fillet- you can feel them. They won't cook out- better to get them out before or after cooking. They tend to stick between the teeth if you don't.

Glad you get to cook some fish Justin! Lilley's style is good but my favorite is frying the old fashioned way, Put about a 1/2" of vegtable oil in a frying pan and crank it up. I coat the fish in 1 egg beat with some milk then coat it with half flour and white (or yellow) corn meal. I also like some Cavenders seasoning (or just salt and pepper) sprinkled in the mix or on the fish. Fry them about 2 minutes on each side. Now that's eatin! I've also started poaching them lately but first things first... Gotta learn to fry fish. It's the best way to make you keep going! The fishing will be good for a while yet so keep after them and we'll help you every chance we can!

I coat mine in a light layer of mustard then into zatarans fish fri breadcrumb mixture and on to the grease. Sounds bizarre but after years of the regular breading I'm hooked

I've done most all of these different ways in the past, except for Lilley's way. Never heard of using a microwave. May have to try it. Anyway, my personal favorite now is the Zataran's fish batter. And deep fry it. I cooked a mess up the other day in my new turkey fryer. It was great! Hopefully I can get a turkey this morning so I can head to the lake tomorrow.

Hey Justin, Glad you had a good day and sorry about Walnut Grove. They are famous for that. Were the cats full of eggs? I am trying to get a feeling for the spawn. It should be soon. Thanks.

I've never been stopped in Walnut Grove but have seen many others stopped. I come from Sacville and have thought about taking a shortcut around Walnut Grove by taking BB and then turning south on JJ to 215. Turn left onto 215 and will come out at Eudora.

Quite honestly that is the reason I fish the other part of the lake, so I don't have

To deal with Walnut Grove. Most of my fishing is at Roark/Mutton or CC for that reason.
