Funny thing on the Day 2 standings, 2 guys from the Pacific Northwest leading and the next 2 are from Florida. You'd think the local guys would have an advantage, but there's only one guy left from AR or MO in the top 20 and he's from West Memphis. Standings are pretty tightly bunched also.

Big bass so far are barely breaking 5 lbs., I would have thought a 6-7 lb. fish would have been caught by now.

They dont know Beaver, Like we were talking about yesterday, from the reading most guys are going up river to escape the wind when they should be locking down on the points with spinner baits. Im going out with a buddy today for some Walleye and Stripers, Rumor mill has it the Walleye have taken up home in Rocky Branch area and lord knows I dont mind catching them.

There is one guy fishing who lives in Copermine and two from Springdale who both did good in local tourneys before going pro. I would not say Greg doesn't know Beaver since he has fished it for over 30 years and has about a 100ft walk from kitchen to the lake. Sometimes "knowin the lake" is a disadvantage due to being stuck on honey holes that did good in the past and not running patterns that fish are following. I spent enough money trying to run milk runs from favorite hole to hole to learn that doesn't pay off very often but when fishing with someone who knows the lake it is hard to get them to come off plain and fish a point they have never caught a fish on even if it has been 10 years since they cast a lure on that point.

Fisherman get stuck on patterns and the way to fish and seems the pattern just matches up to the fisherman more then fishermen matching the pattern. Seems most people will run 20 miles to find fish that doing what they want fish to do rather than change what they are doing to suit the fish where they are at the time. I am no exception and will fish the lakes I am used too the same way every time but will change up totally when fishing a lake I have never seen before when that is exactly what I should do in my own back yard.

I would love to see Greg win the whole thing on his home lake. He's a great guy and deserves the glory at least once.

I agree with ya stump. I just walked in from the lake fishing with a friend today and boated well over 50 fish. Our big bag would have been about 17lbs of bass. I have no clue how the FLW boys did but we had a great time today. Ill post up the full report in a few minutes.

Feather - You need to start fishing tournaments then. 17 pounds would have won just about every local tournament on Beaver this year, and some of those are 6 and 7 fish tournaments.

I use to, and wont do it again, it caused me to get to the point I stopped enoying fishing. Fishing means more to me then any money or fame or ego ever could. I Never want to get to the point I do not enjoy it again.

I became someone I wasnt happy with because of the compitition, I stopped trying to help people and give advise and information for "FEAR" they would use it or pass it on to others who might beat me. It caused me to have a super ego because I was good at it which made me an A______ . It changed me from who I am and what I enjoy doing to someone I couldnt stand to be around! So for me I will stick to doing what I enjoy, and that is helping others get better at it, help others to see diffrent ways to fish and get others involved in the sport and hope they come to love it. This forum gives me a great way to reach out and try and help others and that is what I love about fishing. Seeing others succeed and have fun. No Offence but I have seen way to many good guys that get into a sport of one type or another on the competitive level and it turns them to something else. So no thanks :)

Well said and I'm glad we have someone like you who don't mind sharing their expertise and knowledge to us novices.

Went to the weigh in today. Never been to a pro weigh in before. I'm an FLW "member", which means I subscribe to the mag. So I was able to get a VIP tour deal for free. Showed us all the back stage stuff. Nothing earth shattering, but interesting how it all works. And we got VIP seating, which was nice.

The weigh in was a good show, except they apparently have some deal where they like to get the leaders get all emotional and get them crying. I don't get it, but whatever. Dudley won with 54. He had a 16 pound bag. Morgan weighed in 17lbs. Some really nice bags! Many of them where throwing the A-rig pretty much full time. Many commented on how much better Beaver is fishing than in years past, saying they were catching 20-40 fish a day.

A different leader every day, and the winner was only up 8oz over 2nd. So a good tourney.
