Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 If you look up the SWPA schedule it says 25... what on earth is 25 ? If 50 is 1 unit and 100 2 units and 150 3 and 200 4... what in the world is 25 ? Methinks its a goof-up. What are they gonna run.. 1/2 a unit ???? Members gary2400 Posted April 27, 2012 Members Posted April 27, 2012 I have seen it scheduled that way maybe 2 times before and fished it. The water was about 6-9 inches above 'no flow'. If you like slightly faster current it's great. I'm trying it tonight and hope it isn't a typo...
Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 They have been running 2-3 units all day.. so the projected schedule is just thier 'educated guess'. As always. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 28, 2012 Root Admin Posted April 28, 2012 It's a half unit. Not new. Actually I like this flow. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Brian K. Shaffer Posted May 5, 2012 Author Posted May 5, 2012 Well they shouldnt do it at midnight when I want to night fish. I got down there at 11:40 and was totally geared up by midnight and they blow one short horn... it didnt blow at the boat ramp stack unit... so I thought it was just a slip up as if they were condensing one unit and accidentally let the swtich get " triggered ". Not the case. 4 minutes later this time one long horn at both horns. I called.. 0 units. Called some more.. and some more. By 12:15 it finally did say 1 unit was running... but the water came up only like 4 inches... a flow that I would love during the day - but at night it was odd. Usually when they turn it off at night... it stays off... if it shuts down at 10pm they generally do not turn it back on 2 hours later and run 1/2 a unit for an hour. The fishing was not good for me. I caught 2 fish... but switched flies like 13 times. Couldnt figure anything out. Anyways.. that 25 on the Saturday SWPA chart is odd. What I now need to do is learn to fish it during the day but not at night for the first time. Or just have a different frame of mind for it at night. I wanted low water. I didnt try a sink tip nor do I think it would be necessary... but it was just weird for me ... threw my game off. I called just now and its fully off.. despite the 25 on the webpage. Should have stuck it out I guess. Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
duckydoty Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I would like to try the flats between outlet one and two with half a unit running. With the water off, the current is usually too slow to just dead drift. Half a unit should be just enough for dead drifting streamers up there.
