Feathers and Fins Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Here is a question for debate. It seems I see and hear of more and more people catching bigger and bigger bass up the white river. Being a Cali Boy and seeing the Monsters come from there we knew they were feeding on trout courtousy of the DFG. So my question is do you suppose the Bass up the White have finally reached a size to prey on them which is leading to larger Bass? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
riverfish Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 no, i personally don't think so and it seems to me like the "up the white" that we are seeing or hearing about ranges from campbell point all the way up to holliday island i just don't think there is trout that far down

Jason Essary Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Agree with Bry. These big fish are the small fish that made it throu the kill. They are now getting to 7-8lb size. Some out there that are bigger are ones that did not get effected by the kill. Couple years ago, 6lbers were the bigs, last year it was 7. Now its becoming 8s. That year of fish are just getting bigger. After the kill they were the top dogs almost lake wide, and their growth shows it. rps Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I know some feeding on trout occurs, and the trout are farther down lake than many realize. When they generate from Beaver the cold goes right on by Holiday Island in the bottom of the main channel. In the winter trout wander down from Roaring River as well. The ones who feed heavy on the trout, though, are the stripers washed through Beaver dam. This last winter a Holiday Island resident caught a 31 pound striper in the Beaver tailwaters. The Arkansas state record was caught by Jeff Fletcher in the Beaver tailwaters. There are not many, but they feed hard on the stockers.
Bill Babler Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 RP. I heard that Jeff's record got beat, but have not verified it. Do you know anything about this? http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Feathers and Fins Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Wasnt me lol.. I have not heard anythign about it.. There have been two new records this year but both were on the east coast. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
rps Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 If someone put a striper in the boat larger than Jeff's 64.5 pound beast, my hat is off to him or her. Anything larger than Jeff's is an ocean size monster.
Bill Babler Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Ya, I don't know where I heard it. I should have asked Jeff. He and Lane Shoemaker fished a tournament I was in last year and I forgot to ask. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
