dtrs5kprs Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 So... ...The reason I posted a Q about the lake level links was due to the crankbait bite that was going on this spring. I have never really looked at flow that much at TR, because it seems pretty stable, at least compared to Truman and others. But it struck me that the cranking bite was on because of the water running, especially when Beaver and TR were both running. Had a guy staying by me catching some good ones on a big crankbait. He was fishing down by the dam, and calling the number to get the schedule, or more simply, fishing close enough to the dam area that he could hear the river warning horn go off. When that happened he would run to his points, brushpiles, other deep crank spots, and catch a good black or two (3#-5# range) while they were running. Could not do it without flow. Remember last year the deep tube bite outside the flood line was better when they were running water. Just curious how much the more local folks and guides follow the flow and fish the current. Wondering how many times I caught them out in the lake because of it, but did not know it.

Guest Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I don't know but your point makes sense. What about the discharge from Beaver affecting the fish near Eagle Rock? Does the same thing happen there too?
Gavin Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Makes sense...dont do any lake fishing...but inshore salt fish turn on when the tide moves. I'm sure the pattern holds on dam controlled lakes.
dtrs5kprs Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 Nothing to read hear, moving on. Dang, I love silent answers. Also no fish in Schooner Creek while we are at it.
Jason Essary Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Ichs na on the Nerschoo Ekcre scay also... Yes, if the dams are generating it does set the fish up different. Have hit some spots where you know you should have fish and nothing, then couple hours later they are there. Think they were there the whole time, just didnt have their eyes open until the current was moving. Lot more current in TR than most people realize. This does not effect most shallow fish, or creek arm fish either. But main lake fish live and die by it. Moving on now.
