What is your hull made of? You need to get the kit with the epoxy that will stick to your boat. Piragis Northwoods is a good online source for a skid plate kit. Not hard to do...bit of prep and some masking around the area you want to put the skid plates on.

My bad Gavin, I just assumed that everyone had an Old Town. :have-a-nice-day:

Just in luck. KeelEazy makes a product that is much easier to apply and use than epoxy based systems.

they also have a facebook page, but it needs some 'likes'...

The kevlar/epoxy kit Gavin mentioned will work on an Old Town too. And if it doesn't, all you're out is an Old Town :D Not a real hard project at all. They are tough!

Naw, I was thinking it was a grey or tanish color. Seemed kinda thick looking too.

I thought I had seen a thread on it a 2 or 3 years ago here.

yes i've used the keeleazy. I like to put a 2 inch strip in the heavy wear areas and a 3 inch strip over the top of it for the length of the hull or the keel. I don't think you'd need to or it would be very practical to cover the length of your canoe.
