Al Agnew Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 If it was me I wouldn't bother putting the skid plates on until you get a lot of wear on the bottom. They do add weight, and they slow the canoe down slightly.
Gavin Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Skid plates...run $80 or so....put that money towards a good paddle...Wood Single blade...something that will touch your chin...The yak paddle wont get used much after you figure out how to use a single blade with a solo canoe...going upstream...yep...down river..nope.

I put boat seats in mine and while I love the comfort, I am toying with the idea of going back to the seat backers. But that may still be a couple of years down the road.
