Members JRsTheMAN Posted May 22, 2012 Members Posted May 22, 2012 Just an FYI tested the waters on Saturday, May 19. I float this all the time and was curious how bad it is. 3 of us floated tubes and 1 in a Kayak. We got out to walk a total of 14 times. Water level is way way low. End of summer type of low. I would not recommend a canoe because you need to drag it a ways until its deep enough. We did not fish, but there was one fella fishing just below iron bridge. He said he was doing pretty good with some small mouth. I could see a lot of gar activity. If you are thinking about floating flat creek, I would wait until we get a lot of rain for a long period of time. JR

Members Ultralance12 Posted May 23, 2012 Members Posted May 23, 2012 We were going to try and float the flat in mid June but that is becoming less and less likely. Come on rain. Doesn't it always rain on memorial day weekend. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?5zsccl
grizwilson Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 JR is right, Flat is LOW, like August low. “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
chub minnow Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Ultralance, it's not looking good for the June trip on Flat. The North Fork of the White is looking good right now, Bryant Creek as well. MAYBE we'll get some good rain in the next few weeks, otherwise we're gonna be doing one of the spring fed rivers for sure!!
Stoneroller Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 looking at USGS data it appears as though all of the creeks and rivers down there, and in most of the state south of I-70 are at 5-20 year lows. those are october lows and 5-20 years because that's all the further back the data goes. Think of this as the opposite of the 100 year flood. This is shaping up very quickly to be the 100 year drought. We need rain, lots of it, and over a long period of time. Although, oddly you wouldn't know it to look at NOAA's data. Fish On Kayak Adventures, LLC. Supreme Commander 'The Dude' of Kayak fishing www.fishonkayakadventures.com fishonkayakadventures@yahoo.com
