I've tried Lomand, Ann, Windsor, Avalon and Brittany trying to catch catfish and can't get bit. Are there just not many catfish in those lakes?

There are quite a few cats in the lakes, the POA stocks them on a yearly basis. There's some big ones in Lomond and Windsor, when they do electrofishing surveys they've shocked up some 20 lb. cats. I don't fish for them myself, but have caught a couple while bass fishing.

I'm told the best time to fish for them is after a hard rain that gets the feeder creeks running high. Set up in one of the coves where there is water coming in after a rain.

Lake Rayburn may be worth a shot, the lakes bio said that during the last survey they saw quite few cats and they were on the skinny side, so they're hungry.

Thanks for the info. If we ever get enough rain for a decent "runoff" I'll try some feeders. Until then though I'm still catching Trout out of Brittany. Hate to see 'em go to waste.

I know a guy who fishes the lakes frequently and does very good for cats, He uses bluegill I think and fishes cuts and creeks. Like Quill said though he targets them right after rains, That pattern holds true on Beaver as well, my BEST catfish trips are to Prairie Creek right after a rain, I just anchor up on the edge of the creek bed and toss aout baits into it and limit pretty fast on some perfect eating size cats 2 to 5 pounds but be ready for some monsters to be in there also.

I do well on lake windsor the bite has slowed down here lately with the spawn I'm assuming but should pick back up soon...fishing the rain does produce great fish...drifting has been good for me also
