jolicious Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Took a buddy out on Saturday 6-2 for about 6 hours. Left around 8:30 am, came in around 2:30 pm. He boatd 9 (7 would've kept), and I only managed a couple (1 wouldn've kept). I told him I was just being a good host! We fished Piney Creek mainly, and flipped to every piece of timber in the water that we could find. Boat was usually in 20-25' of water, but the fish were coming out of 10-15'. He whipped me ona brown jig! sorry it's not muych info, but it's all I've got. Everyone is so helpful on here that I wanted to share the little bit of info I had. Have a good day!
J-Doc Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 You got whooped. :-) Fishing is really tough this time of year. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Feathers and Fins Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 As a good friend of mine often says of Beaver, " Welcome to fishing one of the toughest lakes in the US " and I have to agree with him when it comes to Bass. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jolicious Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 A seven keeper day ain't too bad for Beaver. I agree, and I wish that I would have kept the score a little closer!
Stump bumper Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 You said he was using a brown jig, just curious what color jig were you flipping? I like to use those little 1/8 oz jig heads with no weed guards and a twin tail zoom trailer instead of a full jig anymore on Beaver just because it improves my hook up rate. For a little more bulk I will switch to a hula grub but I shy away from full jigs just because I get so many tics that I don't get the hook in when the water gets warmer.

I threw a black/blue (very small trailer), and caught one. The rest of the time I was working on my "Biffle Bug" presentation. I really like the Biffle Bug.I must have been throwing a jig that was too big - I was throwing a 5/16 oz..
