Going to be On LOZ in the Sunrise beach area MM44 on June 15, 16. Bringing my elderly parents and my girlfriend. Looking to catch anything that swims. What is the best bet this time of year on LOZ?

Thinking crappie may provide the most fun for a crowded boat. What pattern would be the most likely to pay off?

For a crowded boat/toon your best time (read;less frustration) and odds for success would be drifting for catfish with cutbait (shad or bluegill).

Was planning on setting some anchored jug lines too, baited for big flathead. Wonder what would be good locations for these. Points? creek channels? steep banks?

My recommendation is to set some lines as quick as possible at all 3 locations the first day you are there. Check them later, then adjust the lines to where the fish are biting. This works best if you stay 2 nights (as a lot of the fish come over night).

Otherwise, points that are close to the channel AND flats (15 - 25 foot flats with the hooks set at 5 and 13 feet give or take a few feet).

In that area you can usually find crappie in the bigger coves along docks with brush as well. Just hug the outside fingers and throw a jig with a crappie nib and pull slowly up from the bottom. Watch for docks with fishing chairs and rod holders, most always crappie docks with brush sunk around it.
