npierceuark Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Do you know if they allow overnight parking there? We are planning on camping on the river that evening somewhere between there and the cowskin access. Also do you know if that is a good float with the water level right now? Thanks for the help
budman Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Three of us floated there Tuesday. We had the guy who owns the campground at Cowskin take us up river and put in on private land. It was a 8.6 mile float by our GPS. He charges $30.00 to take your truck back to his camp ground, that was cheaper then driving two trucks. We each caught between 35-45 fish each, mostly smallmouth. two where 13 inches and most of the rest were between 8-10 inches, but we also had a couple of 4 incher's that hit on a # 6 autumn wooley booger an 2 inch minnow. no one was on the river until we got to the camp and there were about 35-40 kids and about 500 empty beer cans around them. Who knew that Tuesday was party day for kids in Missouri. the water was nice but we did drag in several places, no more the 50-60 feet a couple of times. This was our first time on the river and we had a great time and will return. There were several gravel bars along the way that would make for good camping but I think all the land is private.
