Good Day folks, this seems like the place to put this, if not let me know. I will be in Branson July 5th through 15th, and we are there other times of the year as well. I would like to hear your thoughts on Fly Fishing Taneycomo from a kayak. My thoughts were to put in around the hatchery and go maybe as far as Lilleys, or Scottys and have someone pick me up. my son and I have fished Roaring River for years and can catch trout all day but have never caught anything on Taneycomo, I know its just a matter of learning how to fish there. We rented a boat once from Scotty and went as far as Lilleys with no luck. We have also fished by the hatchery same scenario. I have Studied Phills maps and recomendations but have never been able to fish inbetween the hatchery and Lilleys. what do you folks think?

Sounds like a good plan, it would be hard to go wrong with Phil's recommendations as to fly selection for the lower water.

Watch for fishing reports closer to when you come. I just got back from a week vacation, talked to one of my guides and he said "catching" patterns have changed since I've been gone. And they'll probably change again before you come in July.

MDC stocks rainbows in certain areas and they tend to move upstream. Our guides follow these schools and pretty much keep us up to date on where they are. Bill said he thought MDC stocked a bunch in the Branson Landing area and down towards Rockaway this week.

The sure fire for me has always been the midge hatches. If all else fails a Grifiths Gnat in a midge hatch will rarely get turned down. I'm not saying to concentrate on them, but to be ready.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
