Trolling For Crappie

A friend of mine can no longer make many casts due to hand and arm problems. He's wanting to try to learn to troll.

When does the crappie trolling on Stockton get started?

Hey Dutch,

I have been mostly bottom bouncing and jigging for walleyes lately but did troll for a bit about a week ago. Caught a few nice 12-13 in crappie on small cranks in about 20 fow.

when i was inquiring about this not too long ago i was told that it started after the spawn and lasted all summer..

I have never done much trolling but I am gonna give it a try tonight at cedar ridge. Hope to have a good report for you guys tomorrow.

Nwtf, when you state "tonight" do you mean after dark or in the evening?

Dutch, both. Waiting on my buddy to pick me up now, and then we'll be fishing after dark too

You got it right ricarter. It lasts until the water drops to around 60 to 64 degrees in the fall.

So how did the trolling go? Did you do it at night?

We did some. The bite was terrible for us. I caught one little 4" crappie. That was it

A buddy and i were on Pomme this weekend and caught 9 crappie and 1 bass trolling it was a long process but we at least caught some fish we had alot of shorts caught as well.
