superfly Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I am interested in building a fly rod. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in teaching a rod building class or hosting a seminar on it sometime this winter. Does anyone else have this interest. Matt
Terry Beeson Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I'd be game to take that course as well. I know there are a couple of guys on here that build rods. Now all we gotta do is get them to teach us... Harry Boyd has a bamboo class, but that's more involved and you have to go to Louisiana to take it... but Harry makes some very sweet bamboos.... Flysmallie Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I would be interested. Have been planning on building a rod this winter. Might as well figure out what I'm doing before I jump right in.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 10, 2006 Root Admin Posted October 10, 2006 I will talk to Rolan Duffield while he's here. He's built rods for years and I'm sure would be happy to come down and do a class.
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 COUNT ME IN! Even if I have to take time off from work, I'll be there! I've been wanting to build a rod for quite some time and to have someone help/show me how would be great. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
damselfly Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I would also be interested. I have one halfway started (or would that be halfway finished???!!! ) but it is difficult to get with the person who was helping me....so a class would be great. hopefully it could be very hands on??????????
Members Midge Posted October 10, 2006 Members Posted October 10, 2006 Great Idea Matt. You can count me in as well.
Greg Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I'd be interested too. I've actually built a couple of rods but I wasn't really satisfied with the results. Both rods fish pretty well but my wraps and epoxy work wasn't that good. I'd like to learn from someone that really knows what they are doing. Members Stuartwp Posted October 18, 2006 Members Posted October 18, 2006 I hope I am not stepping on any toes here, but if you guys can put a rod class together, I would be happy to donate rod wrapping thread. I have too much in several brown tones. I also have more than I will ever use of cabelas green and gold, even if I just use it to tie jigs. Let me know.
Rolan Duffield Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I told Phil that I would conduct a class. He indicated January as a time frame. Hey, I also want to meet you guys. Good fishing -- Rolan
