Daveinozark
I'll be hitting Stockton for the first time on Sun morning and I'm not sure what lures to bring. I've got some crappie spinners covered, but what about for the bass? do they hit topwaters out here or are the mostly suspending deep with this heat? I welcome any help, my buddy knows of a few good spots to try and we are coming from Springfield, so any suggestion on spots would be great too
fishbait3
I suggest trolling crankbaits over brush in 25 fow. or trolling on main lake points. For walleye use bottom bouncers along main lake points with crawlers. trolling like this will catch u various fish. Hope this helps
straw hat
Welcome to Stockton Daveinozark. Just a note on the crappie. You might want to try jigs instead of the spinners. The surface temp is around 82 and the crappie have been very picky lately. Would suggest around standing timber at this time at 6 to 15' deep. I just don't think they are going to be active enough to chase the spinners. Good luck and be sure to tell us how you do.
kwall
I'd say try a bandit at about 15 ta' 20 ft for bass, eyes and crappie -- let us know how ya' do
Nwtf gobbler
By far the best advice I can give for bass is texas rigged plastic worms in junebug color along steep rocky or gravel banks. For me it as close to s guarantee as You can get without jinxing myself and saying i guarantee it to work. You will catch lots and lots of bass, and several good ones too. Daveinozark
thanks for the tips. I'm only used to fishing shallow lakes and rivers. I do have some crankbaits but the deepest divers I have are wiggle warts. I do have some small jigs I can use for the crappies andd some 6inch worms with a 4/0 hook. We're going in a small 8hp bass tracker so we won't cover much water there, so trolling a crank probably won't work for us.
powerdive
Keep in mind that Stockton fishes like two different lakes for crappies. In the narrow parts of the upper arms (the upper half of Son's Creek, Big Sac toward Greenfield/CC and Little Sac around Highpoint and Aldrich), the crappies usually can be found much shallower than they will in the main lake due to water clarity and abundance of cover.
