Jdecoudres Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I fish a lot midges as much as my fishing is on tanney. Im trying to make room in my fly boxes and was wondering how many differnt sizes of midges do you carry. I carry 16-20 on every size but thinking of just carrying 18's. but would like to see what you all thought?
Ham Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I rarely fish Tanney. I fish the White below BSL and Norfork. I carry midges in sizes 16-20 and I have gone fishless while I watched a guy maul em on a size 24. In general, I think you need smaller stuff on Norfork. I'd carry 16, 18, 20, 22. I'm too much of a bass fisherman for anything smaller than 20 to be a useful idea for me. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
JCWolfe Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 It's hard to believe something so small would even catch something. A river I fish in West Virginia, size 28 and size 32 black midges are used with really light tippet to take those stubborn trout in the really clear water. Okiemountaineer
Brian K. Shaffer Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I am an all 18's guy on Taney. I prefer the Daiichi 1190 hook. Barbless straight shank down eye. Paired with 6x (reg mono) I believe it to be the strongest midge hook going. <img=http://forums.ozarkanglers.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=16497></img> WHY can't I copy a picture from the O/A site to use on the O/A site ? whats up with that ? http://forums.ozarkanglers.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=16497 Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
