Great report Whit Warriors. Real good info.

Walcrabass, you are dead on with the suggestions (I am not just saying that because you are another old geezer either lol). idn't have those scents back in my day, we just tryed to grab a few crawdads or nightcrawlers and used them to scent our worms. The nightcrawlers especially worked well. They weren't the canadian ones they were ones caught along the river. I think your best suggestion though was the one on little or no weight. It really seems to increase the average size of your bass but I think that, especially if you are fishing deeper water, it decreases the number of fish.

Going to Stockton in the morning (7-7-12). I have 3 poles rigged differently, 1 ZARA Spook, 1 bubble gum floating worm by ZOOM, and 1 "BIG" worm tequila sunrise flavor rigged texas style. I will post pics if anything decides to bite!!

This time of year ( HOT water temps ) the Zaraspook will give you a lot action early and late but, mostly 10-12 inch fish... After the first MAJOR cold front - "OMG" ... the bass just can't stand that spook sach-shaying acorss the water.....

I fish the Power worm a fair amount down at table rock and have had the nights where it seems like they only want the back half. On a few occasions I have switched to the smaller worm (maybe 6in??) and got just as many bites and a lot better hook ups. Sometimes I throw that 6 in power lizard and it seems to work when they are hitting short. However one rare instance I could not get bit on anything but the big worm so I ended up threading about 2 inches of worm on the hook before I texas rigged it. I proceeded to catch 4 or 5 keeper blacks in the same places I was getting "blue gill" bites earlier. It really opened my eyes on how a bass can bite so different from day to day.

Big Bay Outdoors,

I made it to Stockton on Saturday about 4:45 A.M. "Night" fished for a while with Black N Red Neon Spinnerbaits. Caught one 17 " Fish. Sun was coming up and so Fished the 3/4 oz. Rebel Popper. Caught about 3 fish and another keeper. Began throwing Crankbaits in a couple different styles and colors as the fish were boiling after small shad. No Go!!! Threw Trick worms on stand up heads and caught a couple. Now the sun is up and it is getting hot. Obviously the fish are going deep. Began fishing brush piles with Bluegill Bandit, Missouri Craw, and GP Mauler 1/2 oz. Jigs and trailers. Used Craw and Fish scent. Caught fish on Deep bluffs, Big deep rock, and large standing timber. Fished until 3:30 P.M. and headed out to escape the storm. Caught 14 ( I think) Bass and had 5 keepers. Not bad for 100 degree heat and an incoming storm. Five fish might have weighed 11 pounds. Oh Yeah, I forgot.... they would not TOUCH A BIG WORM!!!!!! More proof that shorter, smaller, more compact is the way to go when they are not AGGRESSIVE!!!!!
