Terry Beeson Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Nice fish... I take it from what I see the fish and those eggs are no longer in Taney, right? (Sorry... C&R advocate here...) motroutbum Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 keepin my mouth shut There are two types of people. Those who dream dreams and wish, then there are the do'ers. I am a do'er!
Gavin Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Nice fish and good for you! P.S. Dont let the CR zealots get you down. There is nothing wrong with keeping a legal fish know and then. Cheers.
Greg Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 There's a difference between being a C&R advocate and "zealot". The advocates didn't say anything wrong in my opinion. They're entitled to their opinion too. Greg "My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it" - Koos Brandt Greg Mitchell
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 14, 2006 Root Admin Posted October 14, 2006 Was going to cancel the extra pics attached... but can't figure it out. Where and how? I assume you were boating it. Crank bait??? Thanks for posting.
crappiefisherman Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I was wonderin. Are browns good to eat? Some people do fish for the chance of a good meal provided to them by the Lord.I am not a trout fisherman, as I prefer crappie and other assorted warm water fish.It is a delacasy to me and my family. If this gentleman had a great day, if he eats his catch with vigor and if he follows all the prescibed rules of engaugement ,hooray for him. Terry Beeson Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Gavin, For your information, I am not a "C&R zealot" as you suggest. I am a C&R advocate. I have no problem with anyone taking their legal limit of fish home for the dinner table. And this one was certainly legal. No, there is certainly no "law" against taking a big fish like that home. And if he "takes it home and eats it with vigor" then all the better. However, I think it is important that we, as fishermen, become advocates for C&R especially in certain situations. This was a spawning female chocked full of eggs. It then becomes a matter of opinion as to whether to release it unharmed or not. I just don't see the need to take one like that home. Again, it is a very nice fish... Enjoy the table fare... and enjoy the picture for a very long time... good memory. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 14, 2006 Root Admin Posted October 14, 2006 I've been told large browns are good smoked... I think it's like any fish- if it's prepared properly, it's good. If it's not- it can be REAL bad.
