Been fooling around with this rig for a couple of months now. Trying different weights,

hooks and baits. My hook-up ration was bad at first but getting better.

Thing I like about it, you get down to the bottom in a hurry and keep the bait in the fishes face

(assuming they are on the bottom). Has been a good summer tactic.

Took me a few weeks to realize a sweep set was better than hauling back and crossing their eyes.

Also figured out its easy to over-work the bait, better to shake it a little, not alot.

Be interested in what others have found. I've caught fish on everything from a wacky rigged senko to

finess worms-the latter seem to get more bites.

Drop shotting seems like it will be a really good wintertime presentation-again,assuming the fish aren't suspended.

Seems like it will be a great way to get at my spots and smallies when they're 35-45 ft deep.

I know Rick LaPoint is high on the drop shot at TR. I've kind of come to the same conclusion on my plastics as you, the less action the better.

I was at Mike Webb's class at BPS last night and he's one of best drop shot fisherman around and you are right on your method according to Mike. He also said that he post every guide trip results and photos on his facebook page. I don't facebook yet but I might sign up. I also am amazed how much people like Bill Babler and the other guys share on this website. If you follow the fishing reports here they will make you a better fisherman.

it's deadly on suspended fish too. you just have to play with weight and retrieve speed to keep the lure in the right depth zone. and you can drop shot ANY soft plastic. don't care if it's a frog, worm, craw or so called 'finese' bait. Anything goes. personally I like small fluke/minnowlike baits.
