ollie Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I read that earlier today and thought it was a good story. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
exiledguide Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Thanks for posting this Chief, too often we let people who built America pass on without hearing their stories I wish I could spend time with people I knew when I was much younger who were born and lived before WW1. My heros were my Parents generation who won World War 11 and acted like it was no big deal and then built America but I never spent enough time with my Grandparents or Greatgrandparents generation.
Buzz Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Great story. Thanks for posting it. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Jack Jones Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Absolutely amazing story. Those folks are people to admire. I sure wish that our President could accomplish something like the CCC to put people back to work. Reading up on that everyone said that these programs were a slow slide into communism, but this story just shows that once the storm was over, this guy slipped right back into good old capitalism with the lessons he learned in part from the CCC. I hope we never have to go through something as bad as that generation did, but if we are headed that way, I hope we have a leader with the wisdom FDR had.
