Justin Spencer Posted August 16, 2012 Author Posted August 16, 2012 Justin, Myself and Mrs. BilletHead both have the Vinci. Mine has seen two seasons a and the wife has seen one. From dove loads to 3 inch heavy loads, no problems. Yes the wife shoots 3 inchers in hers for waterfowl and turkeys. Sweet guns. Wish I was closer to you, Would let you shoot a couple of boxes through them, BilletHead Thanks Billet, good to hear that all loads shoot well through it. Jeff Olson Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 hey Justin, just to let you know my opinion . im not familiar with the vincy or any other newer models of new guns as I have been shooting the super black eagle for the last 20 years! I absolutely love it! it cycles any and all loads and sizes.I have shot alot of 3 and a half inchers through it and dont even notice it.I love the extension tube you can add on.it has come in handy quite a few times.especially the spring snow goose season! it is light enough to carry all day in the field pheasant hunting or anything else.it has jammed on me, but I think I can count on 1 hand the times over 20 years! I saw a couple of yor posts on the migratory bird link, maybe I will run into you someday. good luck on your season and whatever choice of gun you get!
Justin Spencer Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 Thanks Jeff, I'm leaning toward the Super Vinci. Picked one up the other day, and now every other gun feels like a toy when I pick it up. Don't like that the safety is in front of the trigger, but should get used to it. Naturally the one the shop had was a "special" camo pattern so he wouldn't budge on the high price so I'm still looking around a little more. I have never picked up a gun that felt so natural in my hands, best I can tell it shouldn't ever miss "The problem with a politician’s quote on Facebook is you don’t know whether or not they really said it." –Abraham Lincoln Tales of an Ozark Campground Proprietor Dead Drift Fly Shop
Justin Spencer Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 Well I bit the bullet and bought a Super Vinci today. Shot a box of 2 3/4 " dove loads through it with no problems, shot great and felt great. Hit the first 9 pigeons then got cocky and started missing a few. This evening I played with the shims that adjust drop and think I have it fitting a little better so I'm excited to shoot it again tomorrow if I can get my mowing done, maybe a few doves tomorrow evening as well. Thanks to all for your opinions they were helpful. BilletHead Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Glad you got the one you wanted Justin, I had thought about one that would do 3.5 inch shells but I am not who I used to be tough wise. Jeff Olson Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 good for you Justin!, I think you will like it more and more as you use it. and it will last a long, long, time. good luck with your season!

Let us know how it does with the bigger shells. You know you got it just in time for teal BilletHead Timing was no accident. I really don't care that much about having the 3.5 inch capacity but seems like no one has the Vinci in stock so I figured I better get the one in demand just in case I didn't like it and wanted to resell. Might come in handy for turkey, but I've killed turkeys with 2.75 inch shells so not really a determining factor. jdmidwest Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I am a small frame guy, 5'8" 155 lbs and the 3 1/2 mags don't really seem much worse than a regular load with my Super X2. I use 3" for ducks, 3 1/2 for geese and turkeys. When set up on a turkey, there is a recovery time shooting the 3 1/2 inch, the upward bounce takes time for you to get back on target. When shooting from a blind or boat, I really don't notice the difference. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Justin Spencer Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 I'm a little taller and a little lighter, and a big turkey load used to about kill me from my 870, I've only shot it twice to pattern and the rest at turkeys, just too painful to shoot. This should be a little more fun! Big storm with serious wind hitting right now, think I'll go. bigredbirdfan Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Old guns, Justin...old guns. Same problems as the new, but they don't look so freakin' gay. Go get a nice, old Browning A5 with a little character, and cuss it when the shell doesn't eject. You'll have the satisfaction of knowing you're one in a long line of people that have cussed that classic duck gun. You'll be holding a masterpiece in your hands, designed by a true genius -- that's reason enough to have it. Later, you can call them grandbabies over close to the wood stove and show them an old Field and Stream with YOUR gun in the illustration on the cover in the hands of a true sport . You can tell them of the old days with handmade cork decoys, and flocks of mallards so thick you could take your pick of the plump drakes when they set their wings. You gotta be thinking long-term here, man! If you do this and I think you should at least consider it you better get a replacement barrel for it to shoot steel or you might ruin your barrel.
