Went in the kimberling area this morning. Toke my dad, nephew, and son. we drop shotted crawlers around 25' to 35'. Caught 2 keeper kentucks, 1 brownie, 6lb flat, and a 4lb. channel. No wally sightings, . Had a fun morning.

I went to deer run the east side point held a huge school of k 's ,caught about 25 or so on drop shot live worm then they seemed to vanish i kept at it and got my 2nd walleye ever at 22 in my scale was in the truck but she was healthy 2more after but they were dinks best day I've had on the rock thanks guys

Bill - thanks for the report! Looking for some entertainment and to expand beyond my crappie-fishing ways, I'm going to order some of those Real Image spoons. I've got some questions, though:

What size spoons are you using? They come in 1/2, 1, 1 1/2, and 2 oz. From your picture at top showing one of the spoons, your hand, and a nice smallmouth, I'm guessing it's one ounce, maybe?

I don't understand about dressing the spoons with an Owner Roostertail or a Death Trap, though. The white tail on one of your spoons looks like the tail of a Roostertail alright, but where does that come from? Are you changing out the treble hook to one called a Death Trap? Let me know, please - I'm a poor old crappie fisherman and don't know about that stuff.

What kind, and weight, line do you use when spooning? Last few years I've used 10 lb. PowerPro braid every chance I get, but I can switch to mono or whatever if the braid is too visible for this. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP, I seldom post here but I sure appreciate your reports!

Boys, I'm either using 12 or 15 pound maxi. right now on my spoons. Mainly because I can then throw them a great distance besides just verticle jig them. The lighter line lets me give them a big toss.

I am using 1/2 oz spoons. They come factory with a size 6 treble hook. I am changing it out to either a size 4 death trap or a size 4 feathered hook. Gets me a few more bites and my hookup ratio is better with the 4 over the 6. You will still miss quite a few on the spoon, but the bigger hook is a real helper.

If you are around white bass the feathered hook will out fish the straight hooked spoon 2 to 1. Also if fish are chasing the feathered hook, seems to get a bite or two more a day. I am always fishing for bites instead of fish. More bites, more fish.

Bill, are you using the Ultragreen Maxi or some other style. Don't you use the Maxi on your spinning outfits also. I like my Seaguar but wouldn't mind skimping out a bit here and there on a few rigs.

I don't use it to skimp. The green Maxima is just better for the applications I use it for than fluracarbon in my opinion. You get that spoon hung up and the maxi will most time pull it out. The carbon will break most everytime. I always use it on my spinners, zero twist, with a sampo swivel and no memory on the reels.
