stlfisher Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 I actually already stacked up the remaining bales between my neighbor's yard and mine so that may help a bit.
jdmidwest Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 So, how did it weather the storm? "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
stlfisher Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 It turned out great. 2.5 inches and only one small spot with runoff that easily repaired. It is still damp today and with more rain in the forecast it shoul ease the water bill a bit. The first half i did two weeks ago looks great. I have two bags of seed left that i will use if there are thin spots in a week a two. I have put down 8 bags so far. Now if i could keep the deer from leaving tracks i would be set. I'll post some pics once it starts coming in.
stlfisher Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 So I am over seeding this fall, but with the hot weather and dry conditions I held off putting down any seed. I am kind of thinking I need to do it in the next couple days, but with no rain in the forecast it is impossible to keep the ground moist all the time. Just not enough time between the new baby and work. When do you guys usually put down seed? It is to late? Last year was late August for me and it turned out pretty well, but my water bill was off the charts.
Dutch Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 If you put it down, it will germinate when it rains, even as late as November. I've already put down a lot of mine and will finish in the next couple of days.
stlfisher Posted September 13, 2013 Author Posted September 13, 2013 Thanks Dutch. I put some down last night and will hopefully finish up by Sunday. I am worried about watering it though. It is big yard and nearly impossible to keep it damp until the seed germinates.
