gramps50 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 When it looked like the rain from Issac had stopped I jumped in the truck and headed to a local lake. Just before Issac I caught 4 small ones just before dusk. So today I headed to the same spot and using the same top water popper I made several cast and nothing, water was a little deeper but still looked pretty clear considering the rain. Stayed there for about 45 minutes and decided to move on. Changed parking areas and took off for the 1/2 mile of so walk to get to the upper lake. Fished all down one side using a buzz bait and also a top water popper. The water was really clear and I could see fish in the lower back finger, including bait fish but not much going on. They weren't liking anything that I was throwing. Wished I had taken some crank baits with me, & I didn't feel like making the trip to the truck to get any so I just continued using the popper trying different retrieves. Thought about leaving but wanted to try the other side so I walked across the dam and down the otherside to the other finger. In that finger there is a tree in the water and threw around it some with nothing. Across the finger and to the right was what appeared to be a tree/log in the water threw the popper over there and just as I started the retrieve I got a hit but no hookup. So I tossed it over there again and this time when I started the retrieve the popper disappeared so I set the hook. It took off taking out the drag, let it run a little then started reeling it in jumped once but I managed to get it to shore. Tried a couple more tosses over there but nothing. Got hung up and ended up breaking the line so It was getting to be supper time and if I didn't want t cold dinner I needed to go home so I hiked back to the truck and headed home. Lost 3 lures and caught one nice fish so I guess all in all it was a decent day.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Nice report. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me) I am the master of my unspoken words, and the slave to those that should have remained unsaid. (unknown)
