Justin92297 Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Anybody been bassin at Busch latley? I'm going tomorrow and still trying to decide which lakes to hit. Also are the catch and release only lakes any good?

WHARFRAT Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I had a different start of the morning yesterday. Went to lake 35, it's usually pretty good for everything this time of the year. BTW the lake is probably 5 ft low right now from normal level. Anyway got my stuff in the boat pushed in out, and slow trolled a little jig out until I get to my first stop. I'm straddling the back seat and watching my line when I feet something on my leg. darn! I've got a snake in the boat with me. Don't know what kind it was, but was able to id it and was pretty sure it wasn't a nasty one. After a failed attempt to get him out, he gets mad and real active. And what seemed like forever, but probably only a minute, I finally pitched the darn thing out of the boat. Never got bit, but got struck at twice. He was probably 3 ft long, give or take a bit. Kind of a dusty brown color with markings on its back. I've seen them before, but don't really know my snake species. @lozcrappie Â
Geoff Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Sounds like a regular old banded water snake. nothing to fear about them, they are testie little critters, i stopped catching them because I have become tired of being biten by them. BredMan Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I was at c&r lake-31 a couple weeks ago fishing around the area by the jon boats with my fly rod. I stepped into one of the boats to make a few casts from back and a very large black snake was laying on the bottom in the open rear section. Got my attention immediately when it slithered past my legs on its way out the front and up into the weeds and grass. I think my heart skipped a couple beats too! BTW - Caught a few bass and bluegill on poppers and foam bugs. Bass were small but that is pretty normal there. Chiggars were biting pretty good!
stlfisher Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 The C/R lakes are good for small bass and some good size Bluegill. 32 has the biggest bass, but It can be hit or miss and it is not much to look at. 31 is great lake...just seems to produce small bass though.
Haris122 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 A bit off topic, but have you guys been inside the main office where they got that aquarium with that big Largemouth Bass in there. Man, I mean the other bass is there is also big, but that huge one in there is like a Bus. Getting one on the line that size would either lead to an amazing fight, or one bad smack from the fishing rod when the line breaks. I'm surprised the smaller normal sized 9" or so Bluegill in that Aquarium survive in there at all with that monster in the same tank.
